What is One Coin English?
Started in Osaka in 2014, One Coin English is western Japan’s largest English-learning meetup.
Approximately 300 members attend each month to study and practice English at our locations throughout the Kansai region: Osaka (Shinsaibashi, Umeda, and Tennoji), Kyoto, Kobe, Nara, and Wakayama.
Beginning in 2015, we opened our doors to international travelers, giving them an place to speak to locals while also providing our members with a valuable opportunity to converse in English with native and other non-native speakers.
Now, in 2016, we are partnering with the San Jose Learning Center and Mirai Gakuen in California to establish our presence in Silicon Valley!

For the price of a beer, anyone can enjoy a fun evening learning more about language and culture in both Silicon Valley and in Japan. Following the meetup, those who wish to can stay and eat takoyaki!
This cultural exchange event is open to Japanese living in the Bay Area, as well as any others with an interest in Japan or Japanese language or culture.
Our doors are open to those who have just come to the United States or are not confident in their English. We also welcome Japanese who have lived here for a long time and want to speak their native language, as well as locals who have studied Japanese and want to brush up. Even if you have no international experience, we hope you’ll join if you’re curious.
